At last, my lanterns are hanging! I am ecstatic!

We bought them while living in Vietnam. In a small village called Hoi An, which is also known as the lantern capital of the world. There were so many shapes, colors, and sizes to choose from. Each one is carefully handmade. It really made it hard to decide. But in the end, these bright yellow ones full of flowers won my heart. I could already see them hanging on the patio slightly swinging in the cool breeze.

Just one problem though. As digital nomads, we were constantly traveling and we did not have a home. There was no way I could drag along two huge lanterns everywhere we went. So they had to go into storage. Carefully wrapped to protect them against anything that would want to steal their future of being just grand. It was sad because who knew when we would eventually be at one place long enough so that I could hang them in the wind.

Now, more than two years later I have finally unpacked them. And they are hanging in my living room. Not on the patio swinging in the wind like I was hoping, but at least they are not lying in the dark gathering dust.

We are still nomads and still moving, but I decided to not save them for someday. That someday might never come. And now at least I have the privilege to peek at them through the business of the day. They remind me of people and places that are far far away.

Don’t save your stuff for someday or one day. That day is now. Today is just as special as any other day. Go get those special teacups and make yourself a steaming cup of tea, pull out those pillowcases you have been saving for one day and sleep on them tonight. You deserve it!

Hit the reply button with a 'yes' if you are going to start using something today that you have been keeping for one day.
