I have been holding onto these dresses for ages! Well, literally between 10 to 14 years!!! And I have not worn them once since then. Not once! Not that I didn’t want to. But because my body had changed since I had children and more importantly, I have changed.

But I have been holding on to them through travels around the world with the hope that maybe one day. Maybe one day I will fit into them again. Maybe one day I will feel again like I used to feel when I wore them.

Writing this now I realize how ridiculous this sounds. But it is something that so many of us struggle with. That longing to be who we used to be. Feeling like we are just a shadow of that girl who used to wear the short bright colored mini dresses.

It is the truth. I am not that girl anymore. And neither are you. We are women now. We are older, a different kind of beautiful, and more powerful than we think.

So I decided to sell all of these dresses and use the money to buy something that I can wear now. Something that can make me feel good and alive right now. It looks completely different from what I used to wear back then, but it wraps softly around my body and urges me to embrace this season of my life wholeheartedly. That is what we need to do.

So go and pull those boxes from under your bed, or maybe they are stored away high in a wardrobe. Maybe even in the back of the garage. Go get it! Unpack it all! Let it go! The beauty is that you are not only letting go of the items of clothing, but you are also letting yourself go. You are releasing the old you and making space to accept and enjoy who you are now. And that is fun!

You were fearfully and wonderfully made. The truth. Fullstop.
