To have a more relaxing holiday season, we sometimes need to do some work beforehand. So why not do a bit of decluttering NOW and get your house ready for the Christmas season.

1. Declutter décor
Declutter the current décor in your home before bringing out the Christmas decorations. If you have too many items hangings on the walls or standing on flat surfaces let them go now. Once you are done, you are ready to declutter your Christmas decorations. Sort through all your decorations and decide what you want to keep before putting anything out.

2. Declutter toys
It is a great time to declutter the kids’ toys before Christmas. Not only will you get rid of broken, outgrown, and unused toys, but you will be making space for the new ones they will receive as gifts this Christmas.

3. Declutter kitchen countertops and cabinets
You will enjoy preparing all that food for Christmas so much more when your kitchen is decluttered and organized. Clear off the countertops and let go of any items in the cabinets that you don’t use, don’t need, or that have expired.

4. Declutter linens
Let go of any linens that are torn, faded, or badly stained. That includes table linens as well as bath towels and bedding. Keeping only what you need and use makes it so much easier to find things as well as motivates you to actually use what you have. It will also make it easier to prepare for guests if you are hosting this holiday season.

5. Declutter the porch and entryway
Coming home to a cluttered porch and entryway does not feel very welcoming. It just continually reminds you of all the work that still needs to be done. If you declutter those spaces, you will have happier thoughts and feelings as you enter your home. Your holiday guest will also feel so much more welcome and special.
