My first attempt with watercolor. I just love succulents, so could not resist.

I am forever telling you to try something new, make time for yourself, to know what is important to you. And today I had to use my own medicine.

We have been going through some tough family challenges lately. And when one is so absorbed with all the ‘what ifs’ and ‘what nots’ it is so easy to lose perspective. To forget about yourself. To get too tired.

But the problem is that if you stop looking after your own wellbeing, eventually there is not much left to give to others. And right now there is a lot of giving that needs to be done.

So I had to do something to look after myself … to recharge my energy. I did something I always wanted to do. I pulled the watercolor set that I got for my birthday closer to give it a go.

I don’t really care what it looks like. I mean it was my first attempt. I am just so damn proud that I actually did it. That feeling of accomplishment does wonders. And it energizes. Exactly what I need right now.

So with the proof in the pudding, I am allowed to say it again … at times you just have to prioritize yourself. Not because you are selfish … but because you want to give the best of yourself to the ones you love.

What would you like to give a try?
